Domains
Your domain name is the name that you or your business is known by on the world wide web. It's a bit like the sign over your shop or the plaque outside your office. But mostly, it's like your address - it's how people find your web site and find you.
Ideally, it would be the name of your company, but instead it might represent what your company does.
For example, your company might make sweets and be called Smith and Jones (International) Limited.
The obvious choice for your domain name might be, then, smithandjones.com, but that doesn't tell people what you do.
Perhaps a better choice would be internationalsweets.com, but then you don't have your name in there.
So, to try and include everything in the domain name, and that isn't always possible, you might decide on smithandjonessweets.com.
It's still a bit of a mouthful (excuse the pun) but you have both your identity and your business in there, which is important.
Choosing a domain name is important and it can be difficult sometimes, but it's worth putting a lot of thought in to it.
